Walkway Installation On Cape Cod, MA

D27362BF-F981-4055-9302-0D3DA28A2C4F.heic

Our Process:

1. Plan the Layout: Determine the design and size of your stone walkway, marking the area with stakes and string for guidance.

2. Gather Materials: Collect all necessary, including stones, gravel, sand, and tools like a shovel, level, and tamper.

3. Excavate the Area: Remove sod and soil to a depth of about 4-6, ensuring the area is roughly level and free of debris.

4. Create a Base: Add a layer of gravel to the excavated area, about 3-4 inches deep, and compact it using a tamper for a solid foundation.

5. Add Sand Layer: Pour a 1-inch layer of sand over the gravel, leveling it out to create a smooth surface for the stones.

6. Lay the Stones: Begin placing the stones in your desired pattern, pressing them into the sand and ensuring they are level with each.

7. Fill Gaps: Once all stones are laid, fill the gaps between them with sand or gravel, sweeping it into the to secure the stones.

8. Compact and Clean: Use a tamper again to compact the stones and fill in any remaining gaps, then clean the surface to remove excess sand or debris.
